Fruitfly trap 20 ml

Fruit Fly Trap for catching/monitoring

The fruit fly trap offers a highly effective and environmental friendly method of controlling the fruit fly

These traps are designed to control the Drosophila Melanogaster. This insect species is better known under its more generic name: the common fruit fly

Unlike most flying insects, fruit flies are not really attracted by light.

Introducing the common fruit fly:

The adult is yellow/ brown in color and about 1 to 2 mm in length; the female is slightly larger than the male. Discovered in the beginning of the 20th century, this species has spread out globally and is now considered as a real plague.

In spring, when the temperature goes up, the common fruit fly can grow rapid to big numbers. In their life cycle a fruit fly goes through 4 stages:

    1. Egg stage (fruit flies lay their eggs commonly in rotten organic material
(with a preference for decaying fruit or vegetables)
    2. Larva stage (4 days of non-stop eating)
    3. Pupae stage (the larva will find a dry sport and built a cocoon, in which he transforms into its final stage)
    4. Full grown flying fruit fly (their typical lifespan is 14 days, in which the female can lay up to 800 eggs)

The typical habitat of the common fruit fly is indoor.  They can be found in high moisture areas, areas with water or other fluids or around rotten fruit or waste disposal areas.

Introducing the solution:

Unlike most flying insects, fruit flies are not really attracted by light. The best method for effective attraction and control is the use of a special developed scent. And this is what the fruit fly traps offers. Drawn by the scent, they enter into the trap, from which escaping is not possible.

The fruit fly trap system comes in two different executions:

      1. A stand-alone trap with a 20ml fruit fly attractant content. A conical insert, placed in the opening is used to retain them inside the trap.
      2. In combination with the Armadilha 15 a dispenser and 50ml refill bottle is available. The dispenser can be clicked into the top cover of the Armadilha 15. Fruit flies who enter the trap, will be collected inside the dispenser and / or on the glue board, placed on the inside of the Armadilha 15.
